A RESOLUTION ADVOCATING FOR JOINT TRASH AND RECYCLING PICK UP FOR COMMERCIALLY ZONED AREAS IN THE CITY OF COLUMBIA

PURPOSE: To express the Missouri Students Association’s intent to advocate for the pick-up of recyclables to be included in the pick-up of trash for commercially zoned areas in Columbia, Missouri.

WHEREAS, the pick-up of recyclables is not included in the pick-up of trash for commercially zoned areas in the City of Columbia; AND

WHEREAS, the owners of property in commercially zoned areas must pay an additional fee in order to have their recyclables picked-up by the City of Columbia; AND

WHEREAS, over 5,000 students at the University of Missouri reside in commercially zoned areas; AND

WHEREAS, the Missouri Students Association serves as an advocate for the student voice and interest; AND

WHEREAS, it is in the interest of the student body for the Missouri Students Association to advocate for the pick-up of recyclables to be included in the pick-up of trash for commercially zoned areas in Columbia, Missouri,

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MISSOURI STUDENTS ASSOCIATION that the Missouri Students Association declares its intent to advocate for the pick-up of recyclables to be included in the pick-up of trash for commercially zoned areas in Columbia, Missouri.
