A RESOLUTION TO GARNER SUPPORT FOR THE ESTABLISHED REFERENDUM ON A LIBRARY STUDENT FEE

PURPOSE: To Pledge Support and approval of having a student activity fee for library services.

WHEREAS, The students require a well-funded and well resourced library; AND

WHEREAS, The overall expenditures of the library outweigh the amount they are allotted currently; AND

WHEREAS, The libraries see over 8,000 students per day making the utilization of the 100 year old building see a faster rate of depreciation over the duration of the facilities lifespan; AND

WHEREAS, Increasing the funding of the library behooves the students in numerous ways, including but not limited to 24 hour service, expanded study space, research and reference help, and updated facilities; AND

WHEREAS, The MU library and University administrations have requested a fee in order to maintain and expand certain library services; AND

WHEREAS, The Libraries have colluded with SFRC, MSA and GPC to establish a proposal that benefits students and their subsequent needs; AND

WHEREAS, Students should determine whether such services are deserving of a student fee.

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MISSOURI STUDENTS ASSOCIATION that an official pledge of support to the 2015 Fall proposed Library Fee be established upon the passing of this legislation.
