A Resolution to Support the Formation and Implementation of Rain Gardens within the City of Columbia

PURPOSE: To show support of the formation and implementation of rain gardens through the city of Columbia; AND

WHEREAS, in Columbia, Mo., trash, sediment and other pollutants clog storm drains making treatment of water in facilities and upkeep of storm drains costly to the city; AND

WHEREAS, rain gardens catch and hold pollutants and have decreased pollution in the surrounding areas of a current rain garden site by 80 percent; AND

WHEREAS, implementing more rain gardens around Columbia, Mo., create a cleaner water source and environment.

THEREFORE BE IT ENACTED BY THE MISSOURI STUDENTS ASSOCIATION HERE ASSEMBLED that the undergraduate student body for the University of Missouri encourages the city to implement Rain Gardens within the City of Columbia.
