A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE CRIME FREE PROGRAM OF THE COLUMBIA POLICE DEPARTMENT

PURPOSE: To encourage the Missouri Students Association to support the Crime Free Program of the Columbia Police Department.

WHEREAS, the Crime Free Program and the Crime Free Multi-Housing Program are both innovative, law enforcement based crime prevention solutions designed to help keep illegal activity off rental properties; AND

WHEREAS, it is common for criminal activity to occur on local rental properties; AND

WHEREAS, the rental properties have a large amount of tenants from the University of Missouri student body; AND

WHEREAS, the Crime Free Program creates a stable, more satisfied tenant base and improves personal safety for tenants, landlords and management; AND

WHEREAS, the Missouri Students Association’ssupport would encourage rental properties whose tenants are mostly studentsto get partially or fully certified by the Crime Free Program; AND

WHEREAS, the support of the Missouri Students Association would also encourage communication between MSA and the Columbia Police Department.

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MISSOURI STUDENTS ASSOCIATION SENATE that the Missouri Students Association supports the Crime Free Program of the Columbia Police Department.
