A Resolution of Thanks for Faculty Council’s Efforts Regarding Military Credit Transfers

WHEREAS, in the Spring of 2009 the Missouri Students Association passed Bill 48-75, “A Resolution to Grant College Transfer Credit for Military Education and Training,”and,

WHEREAS, this bill asked the University of Missouri to consider granting transfer credit to military veterans for courses taken at military institutions that are accredited by the American Council on Education, and,

WHEREAS, on August 22nd, 2007, MU Chancellor Brady Deaton created the Veteran’s Friendly Campus Task Force, which is charged with examining issues that affect veterans and other military personnel departing and/or returning to campus as students or employees, and,

WHEREAS, a draft of the proposed credit transfer allowances was released on December 23rd, 2009, outlining the Faculty Council’s recommendations of what conditions apply for the transferring of credit, and,

WHEREAS, the Missouri Students Veteran’s Association has expressed their satisfaction with the proposal, and,

WHEREAS, the Missouri Students Association, Faculty Council, and the Missouri Students Veteran’s Association all share similar goals in advocating fair and honorable treatment for Veterans at MU.

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MISSOURI STUDENTS ASSOCIATION thatMSA expresses its thanks to the Administration and Faculty Council of the University of Missouri for working to develop a system for accrediting Military Transfer Credit.
