Bill 49-71

A Resolution Requesting for Excessive Carry – Forward from Budgets receiving Student Funding to be Reallocated to Programs/Services that Show a Need for Increased Funding in Fiscal Year 2011

WHEREAS, University of Missouri System President, Gary Forsee, and Missouri Governor, Jay Nixon, made an agreement that there would be no increase in mandatory fees for University of Missouri System students in Fiscal Year 2011, and

WHEREAS, The Student Fee Review Committee (SFRC) is charged with the annual review of budgets that are funded in whole or in part by student fees, and

WHEREAS, During the budget review process for Fiscal Year the SFRC found that there were several budgets that showed a need for increased funding in Fiscal Year 2011,  and

WHEREAS, The SFRC has identified several budgets that are projected to have large carry-forward totals in Fiscal Year 2011, and

THEREFORE, Be it resolved that the Student Fee Review Committee requests that budgets having large carry-forward totals be examined by the office of the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs in consultation with the SFRC, and if adequate justification for the carry-forward is not given that some of that money be allocated to budgets that SFRC has recommended to receive fee increases in Fiscal Year 2011.

Respectfully Submitted,

The Student Fee Review Committee

Tim Noce, MSA President
