A Resolution to Give the University of Missouri Student Health Center an Inflationary Increase

Whereas, the University of Missouri Student Health Center is a student centered health services center that aims to provide high quality and affordable health services and,

Whereas, currently 85% of the Student Health Center’s revenue is collected from student fees and,

Whereas, the University of Missouri Student Health Center provides a large number of health services such as regular health screenings, health education, and psychological examinations and,

Whereas, the University of Missouri Student Health Center’s mission is to provide comprehensive health care, including primary and referral services, for all students in a diverse population and,

Whereas, the Student health center helps coordinate health education and health promotion activities on the University of Missouri Campus and surrounding areas and,

Whereas, the University of Missouri Student Health Center works diligently to provide education opportunities to Student Health Center staff and students in medical and health-related professionals schools. And to educate students in becoming knowledgeable healthcare consumers and,

Whereas, the university of Missouri Student Health Center does not only work in the realm of physical health, but in mental health and health promotions and,

Whereas, the Student Health Center is accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care, Inc. (AAAHC) and,

Whereas, the University of Missouri Student Health Center works directly with students to make a healthier environment for students and,

Whereas, healthcare supplies have consistently risen at a rate greater than inflation and the University of Missouri Student Health Center has showed signs of an increase need for financial assistance,

Therefore, the Student Fee Review Committee recommends that the University of Missouri Student Health Center receives an inflationary increase not below 0% but no higher than the percentage change in the Consumer Price Index as defined by the Missouri Higher Education Student Funding Act of 2007.

Respectfully Submitted,

The Student Fee Review Committee
