A Recommendation to Maintain the Current Fee Allocated for the Student Fee Capital Improvement Committee
Whereas, the Student Fee Capital Improvement Committee (SFCIC) of the University of Missouri allocates the funds generated by the capital improvements portion of the student fee for the purpose of lasting capital improvements benefiting the students of the University of Missouri; AND
Whereas, the SFCIC is comprised of faculty, administration, and student members charged with evaluating capital improvements submitted by students, organizations, faculty and staff on the following criteria:
- Which projects benefit students the most?
- Which projects benefit the most students?
- Are student activity fees an appropriate funding source?
Whereas examples of projects funded by the SFCIC from the previous year include cameras for University and Conley parking garages, equipment for both KCOU and MUTV, and LED scoreboards for club sports on Stankowski field; AND
Whereas, the fee paid by students totals $230,000 and makes up 81% of the SFCIC budget; AND
Whereas, the SFCIC receives other funding through an Endowment Gift Fund amounting to approximately $31,486 which helps to alleviate the burden placed on students for capital improvements; AND
Whereas, the SFCIC also receives an annual share of the Hearnes Fee Interest Income totaling approximately $17,285 for capital improvement purposes; AND
Whereas, the supplemental income sources preclude the need of an inflationary increase; AND
Therefore, be it resolved that no inflationary increase be granted to the SFCIC for FY2010 and the fee be maintained at the current level of $230,000.
