A Resolution to Support the Rally for Reactor Campaign and to Work Towards a New Solution for Student Tailgating

WHEREAS, the Missouri Students Association has realized the importance of student tailgating as a tradition at the University of Missouri as well as an intricate part of football season, and

WHEREAS, a variety of student leaders, including  the CCRC chairwoman, MSA President, Director of Student Communication, and Director of Student Services, and many others have engaged in talks with Chancellor Brady Deaton, Vice Chancellor Cathy Scroggs and the Athletic Department, and

WHEREAS, the decision to close Reactor Field was reached without representation from our elected student government taking part in the research, planning, or decision-making stages, and

WHEREAS, an online petition had been implemented, which provided over 2,000 signatures in support of a designated area for students on football home game days,

THEREFORE, be it resolved that the Missouri Students Association Senate supports the Rally For Reactor campaign in their work toward a solution for student tailgating, and

THERFORE, be it further resolved that the Senate supports the student game day traditions which helps to promote school spirit as well as alumni involvement, and

THEREFORE, be it further resolved that the Campus and Community Relations Committee and the Missouri Students Association as a whole will coordinate with the Rally for Reactor in developing solutions for this pressing issue.
