Missouri Students Association

University of Missouri

Bill 49-11

An Act to Create an Ad-Hoc ‘Dining Issues’ Committee

PURPOSE: To create a committee charged with analyzing issues related to campus dining and producing a report for use by the full senate

Whereas, in recent semesters, the Missouri Students Association has been extensively involved in several projects related to campus dining, and

Whereas, the level of student concern and the volume of suggestions and possibilities regarding dining issues warrants serious analysis by student representatives and

Whereas, handling dining issues through the conventional channel of current MSA Senate committees distracts such committees and certain members from other projectsand

Whereas, there is sufficient interest amongst current student representatives and students outside of the Missouri Students Association who wish to join a temporary committee dedicated to analyzing dining issues and

Whereas, MSA Senate bylaws provide for creation of ad-hoc committees that are given a charge not to exceed the end of the MSA Senate session during which they are created.

THEREFORE BE IT ENACTED BY THE MISSOURI STUDENTS ASSOCIATION SENATE THAT an ad-hoc committee dedicated to analyzing ‘Dining Issues’ is created. The committee shall be comprised of volunteers currently serving on MSA Senate as well as students from the student body at-large.

BE IT FURTHER ENACTED THAT the chair and vice chair of the committee shall be selected by the Speaker of the Senate from respective pools of interested applicants. The membership shall be comprised of volunteers from and outside of MSA Senate. Senators who join the newly created committee may still serve on existing committees.  Committee meetings shall be called at the discretion of the chair.

BE IT FURTHER ENACTED THAT the committee is charged with polling students, analyzing concerns and suggestions, maintaining continued communication with Campus Dining Services, and compiling a summary report detailing any research and final suggestions for use by the Senate. May the charge of the committee end with the academic semester in which it is created.
