An Act Concerning the Guidelines Governing Referendum Language Submission and the Voters’ Bill of Rights

WHEREAS, the events of the removal of the Academic Calendar referendum have called for action to address the questions raised therein;

THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED BY THE MISSOURI STUDENTS ASSOCIATION SENATE that section 5.25(B) be amended as follows:

5.25     POLLING PROCEDURE

(B)          ABSENTEE VOTING ELIGIBILITY AND PROCEDURES-Students who will not be able to go to their polling place on Election Day may vote absentee beginning two weeks 7 days prior to an election.

BE IT FURTHER ENACTED BY THE MISSOURI STUDENTS ASSOCIATION SENATEthat one subsection be added section 5.45(C) to read as follows:

5.45 AMENDMENTS, INITIATIVES, AND REFERENDUMS

(D) FORM OF THE BALLOT-

iii. An amendment, initiative, or referendum, established by petition or established by the Senate, can only be removed from the ballot after 7 days prior to the election with a ¾ vote of the registered members of the Senate.
