46-38: A C&R Request to Provide Sufficient Funding for MSA Officer Salaries

PURPOSE: To provide MSA operating accounts with sufficient funding for state mandated salary increases.

WHEREAS, A recently passed constitutional amendment raised the minimum wage in the state of Missouri, and

WHEREAS, The MSA Senate recently passed Bill 45-33, establishing new wage levels for all Association officers, and

WHEREAS, Currently available funds will fall short of the total amount needed to pay these new salaries in this fiscal year, and

WHEREAS, The FY08 MSA operating budget will provide full funding for these positions, making this a one-time request, and

WHEREAS, MSA must fund its approved salary levels for the current officers through the end of the current fiscal year,

WHEREAS, It is estimated that approximately $1800 will be needed to provide funding through June 30, 2007, and

WHEREAS, An allocation of $2500 will provide leeway for variance in hours worked per officer position, and any funds remaining at the end of the fiscal year will be returned to the C&R fund.

THEREFORE, Be it enacted by the Missouri Students Association Senate to allocate $2500 to provide sufficient funding for MSA officer salaries.

Respectfully Submitted,

Andrew Cafourek Taylor McKinney
