46-23: A Resolution in Support of President Elson Floyd’s Recommendation of a 12.2% Increase in State Appropriations for the University of Missouri System

PURPOSE: To support Dr. Floyd’s recommendation for a $50,461,654 increase in state appropriations for the UM System.

WHEREAS, on November 15 University of Missouri System Vice President for Finance and Administration Nikki Krawitz met with the Senate Operations and Budget Committees, and

WHEREAS, Dr. Krawitz presented a recommendation by President Elson Floyd to increase state appropriations to the UM System by 12.2%, and

WHEREAS, Dr. Floyd made this recommendation after meeting with students on each UM Campus, including this campus on September 7, 2005, and

WHEREAS, this recommendation has the support of the Board of Curators and would allow to keep tuition flat for the 2007-2008 school year, and

WHEREAS, Dr. Floyd has secured support for the recommendation from Missouri Higher Education and General Assembly leadership, and the Coordinating Board for Higher Education.

THEREFORE, be it resolved that the Missouri Students Association strongly supports President Elson Floyd’s recommendation for a $50,461,654 increase in Missouri state appropriations for the FY08 budget.
